"I love working with George! Aside of being a wonderful person, he is an extremely professional arranger, composer and musician! Accordion can be a challenging instrument to write for, especially in piece with orchestra, as there is a danger of "blending in" with sounds of other instruments- but every time George's writing made it stand out and he was so careful about the textures and dynamics!" Ksenija Sidorova
This arrangement started life as a commission for a new arrangement of Gershwin's Prelude No. 1 (originally for Piano) for solo accordion and chamber orchestra to celebrate London Chamber Orchestra's centenary. This short orchestration proved so successful that Ksenija Sidorova commissioned the full set of Three Preludes for a performance with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and Paavo Järvi as part of the conductor's 60th birthday celebrations in December 2022.
The arrangement, which is a showcase for solo accordion, will be available in three versions– full symphony orchestra, small chamber orchestra or string orchestra. VideosVersion 1
